David Acevedo is a composer, performer, and music educator based in Charleston, South Carolina. His work draws from jazz, M-Base, Afro-Latin, electronica, metal, hip-hop, and early music, integrating linear and cyclic approaches to weave hypnotic musical narratives.

Acevedo’s music has been performed by ekmeles, loadbang, New Thread Quartet, Unheard-of//Ensemble, line upon line percussion, Erin Lesser, and George Nickson, among others. His work has also been selected for a wide variety of new music festivals, concert series, and conferences both across the US and around the world, including loadbang Premieres, the SEAMUS National Conference, the TUTTI New Arts Festival, CAMPGround, the EDME New Music Festival, CLICK FEST, the Lawrence University New Music Series, precept.concept.percept (Slovenia), the Young Composers Meeting (Netherlands), and the Escuta Aqui! New Music Festival (Brazil).

Acevedo serves on the music faculty at Charleston Southern University, where he teaches theory, aural skills, and music production. He is currently a doctoral candidate in Music Composition at the University of Pennsylvania, where he studies composition with Tyshawn Sorey, Natacha Diels, and Anna Weesner. He holds an MA in Music Composition from Stony Brook University and a BA in Music from Columbia University.
